food things i hope to accomplish this year:

- volunteer at a farm.

- starting having weekly cooking nights with friends.

- learn more about butchering. 

- buying more local produce & meats.

- split a CSA box with someone.

- host a class on hourschool about food stuffs.

- read more about the food industry and become more educated.

- possibly get a plot at a community garden. 

it feels good to have washed my hands of you. i deserve better. i’m not going to call anymore. you don’t care. you forget to call. you forget we have plans. you don’t listen. i call that being a shitty friend, and i don’t need any of those in my life. i’m done. 

these are one hundred facts about me from 1/5/2007 from a livejournal post. i’ve deleted the ones that are no long relevant. 

1. i was named after my grandfather alvin and grandmother azalea. i never knew either one of them.

2. i’m constantly restless.

3. i have an amazing cat named salad.

6. i spend entirely too much time on flickr.

7. i have a weakness for outdoor supplies (ie - patagonia, columbia, etc.)

9. i own a betty crocker cookbook.

10. i’ve been to 38 states.

11. the top six countries i want to visit are peru, argentina, chile, new zealand, south africa and india.

13. i love blankets.

14. i spend entirely too much money on yellow curry.

15. i love mini plastic figures. i have a collection.

16. i believe i look best in knit hats.

17. i hate shorts.

18. i feel as though i don’t belong in austin.

20. i’ve owned two volkswagen cabriolets.

21. the only kind of watch i’ll wear is a swatch.

23. i love organizing things, but you can’t tell by looking at my room.

24. the container store is one of my favorite places.

25. processing and printing 35mm film are two of passions.

26. i miss my old haunts in charleston.

27. i hate how i’ve lost touch with certain people that i love.

28. my nose is pierced. i’ve had it for almost three years. (now it’s been almost ten!!)

34. gin and tonic is my beverage of choice.

40. i haven’t eaten beef in twelve years. (yeah…i started eating beef again last year.)

42. anthropolgie is my favorite store, even if i can’t wear most of their clothes. (i can NOW!!)

43. i constantly want to buy kitchen supplies. 

44. i LOVE antiques.

45. i shoot film with a nikon camera.

49. yosemite national park is the most beautiful place i’ve ever been.

52. i took horseback riding in college. serpentines are my favorite.

55. i adore taking portraits of interesting people.

56. i’ve had artificial red hair since my junior year of college. (au natural now, bebe!)

57. my consumption of tacos has tripled since moving to texas. - ohh yeah! 

58. i drink twinnings earl grey tea with soy milk every day. (i drink vanilla hazelnut yogi tea w/ milk now.)

59. my favorite food is macaroni and cheese casserole.

60. i love the color green.

61. i love getting postcards in the mail.

62. my favorite handbag is one i bought in wilmington, nc on vacation when i was 14. 

63. the only countries i’ve been to are canada, england, france, italy, belgium and the netherlands. (been to mexico and costa rica now!)

64. i backpacked around italy by myself for a week. it was one my most challenging experiences.

65. i want a commercial dish sprayer installed in my kitchen when i buy a house.

66. i never use the world ain’t or y’all and i’m from the country.

67. ny style pizza is the best.

68. i own more tennis shoes than girly shoes. (not so true these days.)

69. scrabble is my favorite board game.

70. i used to be obsessed with a band in high school.

71. i have a huge crush on jenny lewis.

72. christmas day, i spent six hours putting together a 1000 piece puzzle.

73. my mother’s home cooking is amazing.

74. i adore sno-beach sweet tea flavored sno-cones.

76. when i was little i had nightmares about falling down a hole that my mother took a picture of at the hoover dam.

77. i had a root canal with i was four years old because i fell off the counter trying to get my lamb chop puppet.

78. my brother and i were in love with michael jackson when we were little.

79. i’ve never broken a bone.

80. i had braces for two years in middle school.

81. i went to afterschool almost everyday after school, and summer camp every summer.

82. camping is one of my most missed experiences.

88. i’ve never smoked anything in my life.

89. i didn’t drink until i was 19.

90. i love going to disneyworld and disneyland.

91. i’m secretly a five year old.

92. i’ve always wanted to have glasses, but i have 20/15 eyesight.

93. i’ve worked in coffee since i was sixteen. (finally quit the biz in march 2008!)

94. i’ve been in three art shows.

95. i’ve been published twice.

96. i love the word handsome.

97. i hate mosquitoes.

98. i love going to the bank.

99. i’ve always enjoyed getting my teeth cleaned at the dentist.

100. i don’t think i’ll ever have babies. (maybe one day…gotta find me a man first!)

looking back and reading this was fun! it’s interesting to see how many things are still the same and which ones have changed.
